One of my favorite songs from my younger days. I never knew it was a cover song. The original by the Five Man Electrical Band is OK, but I think Tesla just made the song. It’s almost as if it was meant to be their song. The Cover The Original The Lyrics And the sign says “Long-haired freaky people need not apply” So I put my hair up under my hat and I went in…See the Full Post with Videos!
It’s one thing to cover Frank Sinatra, it’s another thing to completely own the song as Elvis Presley does here. This is a fantastic cover of an already fantastic song.See the Full Post with Videos!
This is a completely out there and a fantastically unique cover song, a bluegrass country band doing a cover of Snoop Dogg. This was his second single ever and a pretty big hit. I don’t think the Gourds could have done it any better than they did.See the Full Post with Videos!
I was 10 years old when the Cover of this song by Tiffany came out, I wasn’t even alive when the Tommy James & the Shondells version came out. The cover isn’t great, just a poppy ’80s mall rat song. It’s a cover nonetheless, and it was pretty popular in the ’80s and brought a resurgence to the song.See the Full Post with Videos!
I knew of Nonpoint, but had never really listened to them, but as far as covers go this is a really good one. A little more hard rock than Phil Collins, without going too far.See the Full Post with Videos!
I’m pretty sure this Bad Wolves song was the Song of the Year in 2018, if not it should have been. Just enough of their own touch to make it there own while leaving the feel of the song The Cranberries had intended entirely intact. Updating a few phrases as well is a nice touch. The video is a great tribute to Dolores O’Riordan who was supposed to perform the song with them the day…See the Full Post with Videos!
I always call the Ramones the best worst band ever, I love their music though. This is a good cover of a 60’s song by the Searchers. I’d venture to say it’s better than the original.See the Full Post with Videos!
I’m probably biased since this is BB King and he’s one of my favorites, but I think this cover of the Louis Jordan song is amazing, he takes a slower swing song and turns it into a guitar blues rock and roll song.See the Full Post with Videos!
Another one of those covers that just lacks any kind of originality, Stone Temple Pilots did a great job, and of not for Weiland’s unique voice you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference from the Led Zeppelin version.See the Full Post with Videos!
Weezer is a great band, they make their own creative, original music (I mean come one, the Sweater Song anyone?) but when they did this cover they opted to use no originality at all. For the most part, you can’t really tell the difference in the two versions.See the Full Post with Videos!
